This location represents the second Mikuni venture outside of California. Mikuni plans to open a restaurant in The Village at Queensridge, Summerlin, Nevada, during the first quarter of 2009. The Park Meadows Mikuni restaurant will be approximately 8,000 square feet and is scheduled to open on August 1, 2008. Mikuni will offer their award-winning sushi and innovative rolls along with other Asian-themed dishes.
Opened in 1996, Park Meadows lifestyle shopping mall contains approximately 1.6 million leaseable square feet and is operated by General Growth Properties. In 2008, Park Meadows will expand by an additional 154,000 square feet to include a fine dining section of which Mikuni will be a part. Park Meadows is located in Douglas County, Colorado, one of the fastest growing counties in the United States, with an average household income of $95,000.
“We are excited to open a restaurant in Park Meadows,” said Derrick R. Fong, chief executive officer of Mikuni Restaurant Group. “Park Meadows is one of General Growth Properties’ signature properties and with its planned expansion of the mall, we believe that this is a great opportunity for Mikuni as we expand outside the Sacramento area.”
Since 1987, the award-winning Mikuni restaurants have blended traditional Japanese cuisine and sushi with American innovation. Mikuni employs more than 650 people and currently operates five upscale, casual dining locations in the Sacramento region and recently added a sixth location in the Village at Northstar™ at Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort™ in Truckee, California. Mikun’s extensive menu features more than 300 original sushi creations served in eclectic, energetic, dining settings.
